Statement from Linda Escalante, spokesperson from VOCES, in response to the Trump Administration’s announcement of gutting the Clean Power Plan, the landmark climate initiative that set the first limits on dangerous carbon pollution from power plants.

“Donald Trump and his acting EPA administrator, former coal lobbyist Andrew Wheeler, are aggressively pushing for policies that favor corporate donors over the wellbeing of our families and communities. Demolishing the Clean Power Plan will allow corporations to continue polluting the air we breathe and worsening climate change with little consequence or regard for our lives and long term prosperity.

“Our communities are disproportionately affected by climate change and dirty air so Trump's Dirty Power Plan is catastrophic for our health, family, economy, and our future. Now more than ever we pledge to use any available tools to fight to stop this egregious attack on our children and on the most vulnerable members of our communities.”
