Voces Stands in Solidarity with DREAMers
August 15, 2017

The following is a statement from Adrianna Quintero, Executive Director and Founder of Voces, on the five-year anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

"On this 5th anniversary of the DREAM Act we remember and stand in solidarity with the over 1,000,000 of young people who immigrated to the United States and consider America their only home. We must preserve the opportunity to be a vital and vibrant part of our society and economy and to continue to pursue the American dream.

"Sadly this anniversary coincides with efforts by the Trump Administration to push forward hateful anti-immigration policies, including aggressive and senseless enforcement measures such as the border wall or mass deportation.

"Our nation thrives on diverse communities, strong families, and bright futures for our children. President Trump’s recent statements "denouncing" hate are nothing more than a smokescreen as long he continues to push forward destructive anti-American policies that are harmful to families, undermine diversity, and destroy opportunities for young people in our country. If Trump genuinely seeks to ensure that “every American child can grow up free from violence and fear,” he and his administration should flatly reject calls to rescind DACA and deport Dreamers."
