WASHINGTON (July 6, 2017)—Today, Secretary of Interior Ryan Zinke, indicated that he will urge expedited permitting for oil and gas extraction on our public lands. The following is a statement from Adrianna Quintero, director of Voces Verdes:

“This reckless rush to open our public lands to oil and gas extraction sends a clear message that, for this Administration, benefiting the oil and gas industries continues to be more important that protecting us and our treasured public lands. Our public lands belong to every American—regardless of race, gender or how much they earn, and must be protected for us and for future generations, not sold to the highest bidder.”
