Repealing the Clean Water Rule Puts Our Water at Risk

WASHINGTON, DC- The following is a statement from Adrianna Quintero, Executive Director and Founder of Voces, on EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt's proposal to repeal the Clean Water Rule. Repealing the Clean Water Rule will put the small streams that feed the drinking water sources for more than 117 million Americans at risk of pollution and destruction.

"The assault on the health and well-being of our families by the Trump Administration to benefit big polluter continues. Repealing the rules designed to protect our water will represent the biggest threat to our water in a generation.

On top of the President’s proposed budget that decimates our water protection programs, the Trump Administration’s reckless and rushed repeal of the Clean Water Rule compounds the potential damage to our precious waterways where we swim, fish and from which we draw our drinking water.

"Simply put, American families suffer when polluters get free passes to destroy our rivers and drinking water sources, which is exactly what repealing the Clean Water Rule will do. We need to be doing more, not less, to rein in polluters and stop pollution at the source and protect us.

"None of us want a future of more polluted rivers and more dirty water flowing through our taps, our communities, and into our drinking water. We will not stand for these reckless attacks on our right to clean water."
