Dear Governor McAuliffe,
Voces Verdes applauds the tremendous work you have done to uphold the Clean Power Plan and forge ahead on your commitment to reduce carbon pollution in the Commonwealth.
As a national network of diverse Latino leaders from the public health, business, faith, civic engagement, and academic sectors advancing the overall health and prosperity of our communities, we are glad to know you are on our side.
In spite of the Supreme Court’s decision, you stood strong as a supporter of the Clean Power Plan and continue to do so as demonstrated by the signing of the Governors’ for a New Energy Future. These actions have not gone unnoticed. Latinos are deeply concerned about the future of our climate as our families disproportionately suffer from the effects of pollution in our air. In fact, 9 out of 10 Latinos support government action on climate.
By standing up and demonstrating that Virginia will remain steadfast in its fight for the Clean Power Plan, you have not only made a commitment that reflects Latinos’ desire for clean and reliable power, but you have also made our state a leader in the fight to cut carbon pollution in the United States.
We thank you for paving the way for a healthier future for all Virginians, American citizens and our world, and we look forward to your State Plan to reduce carbon pollution in the Commonwealth.
Sincerely,
Adrianna Quintero
