RICHMOND (June 28, 2016) – Governor Terry McAuliffe announced today that the state Secretary of Natural Resources will lead a state plan to reduce carbon pollution and increase clean energy.
As leaders of the undersigned Latino organizations and concerned communities we welcome Governor McAuliffe's move to make addressing climate action a top priority because it's a major issue impacting our community. Many areas in the state are already being affected by rising sea levels and harmful air pollution.
The governor now has a great opportunity to lead Virginia to reduce dangerous carbon pollution and increase clean energy, particularly wind and solar power, which will bring in new good-paying jobs for the Latino community and many Virginians. Voces Verdes and its leaders are excited to help pave the new way forward to a cleaner, healthier and more prosperous Virginia.
