President Protects Our Health and Future by Rejecting Keystone XL Pipeline
WASHINGTON (Nov. 6, 2015) -- Today President Obama rejected the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline and took a step forward in our fight against climate change.
The following is a statement from Adrianna Quintero, Director of Voces Verdes:
“Voces Verdes congratulates President Obama on his strong leadership to protect our health, prosperity and climate. Rejecting the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline was the right thing to do, and is directly aligned with the strong majority of Latinos who believe it is extremely important for the government to fight climate change and the 92 percent who support the use of renewable energy over dirty fossil fuels.
“Addressing climate change is one of the most important issues to the Latino community and we urge leaders who represent our communities across the nation to now follow the Keystone test and stop fossil fuel projects that harm our environment and our health.”
Voces Verdes (VV) is national network of diverse Latino leaders from the health, business, faith, and civic engagement sectors who support environmental protections for the safety, economic prosperity, and health of our communities.
